Social activities improve the working environment at ODIN Engineering

The staff social club of ODIN Engineering regularly organises events and activities that bring our team together. Social engagement has a positive impact on the working environment, which also strengthens the collaboration in manufacturing, developing and constructing innovative, high-quality specialised machines for our customers.

The staff social club regularly organises social activities for all ODIN Engineering employees across the departments of the company to maintain and develop the good working environment.

”We clearly feel that the social activities contribute to a good atmosphere at ODIN. The goal is to bring our employees closer together to boost the good working environment that contributes to motivating the team and the individual employee,” says ODIN Engineering CEO Mads S. Rasmussen.

Through social activities, ODIN Engineering employees get to know each other in a non-work environment. According to the social club representative Klaus Lyngholm (to the left in the picture), this also means that it will be more fun to go to work and collaborate with colleagues:

”From a professional point of view, it is very important that we have a collegial, friendly working environment. When we know each other well, it is easier to challenge each other to ‘think out of the box’ when developing new innovative specialised machines. Often people are also willing to make extra professional efforts when we manufacture, develop and construct high-quality specialised machines for our customers,” says Klaus Lyngholm, who works as a mechanical engineer at ODIN Engineering. Klaus Lyngholm is involved in the staff social club, and in addition to this he is also involved in the working environment committee and the works commitee of the company.

”We often have many deadlines for finished parts for specialised machines, and it is very important that all parts are completed on time. Good team spirit and cooperation are essential in order to reach the goals with the best solutions and provide the good service that our customers demand,” he adds.

Social activities improve cohesion across professional boundaries

The staff social club organises at least three events a year, where all ODIN Engineering employees can meet in a more informal way. Recurring annual events such as the Christmas party and the bowling event in March help strengthen cohesion and create a positive workplace culture.

”Like the Christmas party, the annual bowling event is something that the whole company looks forward to every year. We usually also have an event in the summer, we have, for example, been canoeing, go-kart racing, visited the amusement park Bakken, and even been to a shooting range and afterwards enjoyed a barbecue,” says Klaus Lyngholm.

According to Klaus Lyngholm, the good atmosphere that the staff activities create is felt throughout the company:

”You notice it when you get around the company. People are positive and happy and talk about the events before and after. It is something they are looking forward to and it brings us closer together across our professional boundaries.”

Flat organisational structure that embraces all employees

”It’s great that we can talk openly together across departments. For example, I can go directly to our CEO Mads S. Rasmussen and the rest of the management and discuss the thoughts of the staff social club, without it having to go through many parts of the organisation and be communicated through more people,” Klaus says and continues:

”At some companies there may be far to the top. As an employee at ODIN, it is fantastic with a flat organisational structure where all the employees are heard and considered an important asset in the company.”
