ODIN Engineering adds a Trumpf laser cutter to its machinery to enhance flexibility in production
ODIN Engineering has invested in a Trumpf laser cutter to be able to cut sheet metal in-house. This new laser cutter enables ODIN Engineering to produce individual components and series of machine parts quickly and with precision. This is an advantage when building new special-purpose machines and also when providing spare parts to customers.
”With this laser cutter we are able to do the construction ourselves, with sharper corners and circular and curved shapes. In other words, we are able to deliver high quality and extremely precise results at very fine tolerances, and at the same time we have improved our ability to shape and stamp our workpieces,” says CEO, Mads S. Rasmussen.
Faster delivery of special components at a higher quality
The new laser cutter at ODIN Engineering provides a number of benefits according to Mads S. Rasmussen. For example, it enables greater flexibility in production and faster delivery of machinery, service and spare parts to our customers:
”Previously, we had our cutting work done by suppliers, so it might take a few days for us to deliver components. With this new laser cutter, we are able to do the cutting ourselves within a few hours, and then handle any finishing work ourselves. This improves efficiency and flexibility as we are able to get special components into the production more quickly,” says Mads S. Rasmussen.
Trumpf is recognised for quality and durability, and the laser cutter is easy to operate. Mads S. Rasmussen believes this will increase ODIN’s ability to deliver business-critical special-purpose machines even faster and with even better quality:
”It’s a high quality machine, intuitive and easy to use. Should there be any challenges, support is readily available. This provides flexibility in the production, and operation becomes more flexible, faster and more cost effective.”
The laser cutter exceeds our expectations
The laser cutter is now an integral tool in the production line at ODIN Engineering, and it creates huge value with results that exceed expectations:
”We experience more flexibility in production, and as a consequence we have raised our level of ambition for the laser cutter. Our goal is to deliver cut materials within 24 hours from receipt of order. We also expect a significant reduction in the cost price of many of the workpieces,” says Mads S. Rasmussen and continues:
”We’ve chosen to invest in a Trumpf laser cutter in order to handle requirements for specialty items for the production. The development of technology has made it less complicated to use the laser cutter, and we gain new specialist knowledge and flexibility that can be incorporated into the special-purpose machine. In Hjerrild Rasmussen, we have a permanent anchorman and an experienced operator to control and operate the laser cutter. In addition, we have trained a small backup team in order to provide even more flexibility in production.”
